Inexpensive way to ship shoes within the US?

I need to ship 6 pairs of toddler girls shoes (size 6) together from southern Indiana to New York. When I use the postal calculator, the cheapest I can find is over $10. How do people only charge $3-$7 for shipping things like this? I also need to ship one pair of girls shoes (size 1.5) to New York. What is the cheapest way to do this? I don’t think the single pair of shoes will fit in the small flat rate box that ships for $4.85 and the next biggest box ships for over $10. Please Help!

Hi there For the 6 pairs you are going to have to go with Priority mail Flat rate if you can get all 6 in there, it;s $13.95 for the Large Box $10.35 for the medium one. you can stuff as much in there as you want , and it will only cost you the flat rate charge plus delivery confirmation comes in at .50. The average child’s sneaker weighs anywhere from 8-13oz. So as far as your one sneaker pair goes you can possibly get away with mailing it First Class Mail Parcel. It will be around $3 or less for that one. Yes you can send individual sneakers first class mail as long as it is under 13oz size and shape do not matter, many people get this service confused with envelope only approved, but I ship shoes first class mail all the time it’s real cheap.

As far as $ goes, in general (I am unsure if your a ebay seller here) but if you are if your not shipping your items through the paypal shipping system you will be paying most times $3-4 more at your post office.
