Problem: my husband continues to fall for bogus religious organizations by mailing money to them…(more)?
…the latest is St. Matthews Church. The organization is a direct-mail sweatshop with a P.O. box number in Tulsa, OK but the owner lives in Beverly Hills, CA in a 6,400 square foot mansion worth $2.2 million. This is the third time that my husband has done this (THAT I AM AWARE OF) and although he promises that it will never happen again, I do not believe him and my trust in him has been greatly tarnished. He is incredibly naive and gullable. We’ve been married 24 years and he is 5 years away from retirement. I am afraid that once he retires, he will give away his life savings. I am changing my life insurance policies to include our grown boys as my beneficiaries, giving my husband only 2% to cover funeral costs and to pay my bills. Have you been in my shoes? What did you do or what would you do if this happened to you? I am very saddened by this; especially considering that he didn’t learn the first time, didn’t learn the second time and now here we are again.
Is there a Bible verse “a fool and his money”? I’ve stopped giving to any charities. I gave to the Redcross for 911 then found out most the money never made it to the victims.Over $1 billion was taken in, it was advertised as all going the victims of 911, the way I do math. Divide that by 4000 and that’s what each family should have gotten. I now help by giving extra when tipping, and doing more for people closer to me. Good Luck
