Boxing This Friday

There are many energy drinks on the market, so many in fact that choosing between them is very confusing. Few people can really understand what the ingredients mean on a label, and even if they do it’s hard to judge if the drink is beneficial or not. When a product says nutrition content on its label, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is nutritious.

Many energy drinks contain an over abundance of sugar. If you are counting calories or if you you don’t want just a sugar rush you’ll have to pay particular attention to the amount of sugar in each serving. Many also contain high levels of caffeine–up to the equivalent of 5 cups of coffee per can. Be sure to read the label and determine what levels of caffeine you can tolerate. If you take some time and educate yourself on energy drinks you will be surprised at how much you will learn and will become better informed about what you are putting into your body.

As a 54 year old boxing trainer energy and endurance are a premium. I was one of those people who dismissed energy drinks as a lot of fluff and no beef. I was introduced to a product called Verve and tried it for myself. I have to admit that I was surprised by the results. I normally do 8-10 rounds on the heavy bag 5 days per week but am now doing around 12-14. A lot of this is due to better conditioning but I personally feel that the verve drink helps me to maintain my energy for a longer period of time. Needless to say I am impressed.

To give you an idea of the ingredients in a can of verve I have listed some of the vitamin equivalencies below from the information in their brochures.

* 2 oranges to equal the amount of vitamin C
* 3 stalks of broccoli to equal the amount of Iron
* 1 cup of spinach to equal the amount of vitamin A
* 3 cups of peas to equal the amount of Thiamin
* 5 large potatoes to equal the amount of Niacin
* 2 large watermelons to equal the amount of vitamin B-6

The verve energy drink is not the only energy drink on the market. I encourage you to be open-minded and choose one that is best for you. As far as I am concerned the verve energy drink really does verve you up- but be your own judge. For more info on the product click on the link you see below.
